The Grommet Launches New Colorado Toymaker: Yoee Baby. Infant toy solves parents desire to play with newborns from Day One

Boulder, CO - Colorado-born infant toy maker Yoee Baby announces its availability on The Grommet, beginning Aug. 14. The leading product launch platform for innovative consumer products helps fast-growing Yoee Baby reach a larger, targeted audience of shoppers looking for a toy that helps playfully connect baby with parents, siblings and caregivers from Day One.

Boulder entrepreneur Jillian Lakritz said she designed Yoee Baby to fill a void she saw in the baby products category when she couldn’t find toys to help her play with her first daughter before she was able to grasp things or even sit up. “Yoee Baby is the first toy designed to foster bonding between the tiniest babies and their parents through playful connections. It’s an all-in-one toy with features designed to promote sensory and language development, fine and gross motor skills, body awareness and socialization.”

Lakritz said she is excited to share Yoee Baby with the cool-hunters of The Grommet community. “An emerging body of research shows play is essential for healthy development,” Lakritz said. “When caressed with Yoee Baby, a delightfully tactile teether-rattle-plush toy with high-contrast colors and a feather-like tail, babies signal their delight with the smiles, giggles and coos parents, siblings and grandparents crave.”

Word has been getting out about Yoee Baby since it’s launch last fall via the crowdfunding platform Kickstarter, where it became the most funded baby toy in Kickstarter history. Mainstream media including People.com and USA Today join some of the nation’s leading mommy bloggers like Red Tricycle, Wee Spring and Popsugar Moms in heaping praise and shining a spotlight on what some call the hottest new baby shower gift of the year.

In addition to availability on The Grommet starting Monday, Aug. 14, Yoee Baby is currently available on Amazon and in sixteen specialty toy retailers in the Denver-Boulder metro area, as well as more than 200 independent specialty toy stores coast to coast. "The Grommet supports connections between inventors and consumers, by enabling product purchases that express powerful contemporary values around sustainability, quality, and social enterprise,” Lakritz explained.

Yoee Baby Encourages Dads to Connect With Infants

Unique Bonding Toy Aids Dads in Search of Ways to Connect with Baby

BOULDER, CO - As research shows more and more fathers craving and even insisting on more time with their newborns, newly launched Yoee Baby stands out as a toy that help dads connect with babies in the all-important earliest days and months.

Yoee Baby is finding traction among fathers of newborns for the toy’s clever ability to help parents, siblings and caregivers connect with baby from Day One. The debut of Yoee Baby comes at a time when more men are embracing their roles as caregivers and nurturers, said Yoee Baby co-founder and veteran dad Bill Donavan.

Studies from the Yale School of Medicine and Boston College show 86 percent of today’s dads want to be more involved with their child than their fathers were with them. Furthermore, a 2014 Pew Research Center report notes that 21 percent of the more than two million stay at home dads cite caring for their family as the prime reason they are stay-at-home dads, a fourfold increase from 1989.

In an article in Today’s Parent, entitled “A Rookie's Guide to Newborns,” noted Canadian author and contributor to 24-Hour Cribside Assistance, John Hoffman, encourages new dads to patiently persist in establishing his own connections with his child. Hoffman explains that part of the ability for dads to read baby cues as well as moms seems to comes from simply spending time together. He suggests fathers make play dates with their child that result in ever increasing sparks of  “little invisible love chemicals” that create the “best feeling in the world.”

Besides being good for babies, Yoee Baby has benefits for dad too. Yale psychiatry professor Kyle Pruett and a handful of others who study fathers have found that, contrary to the cultural view that mothers are key to child development while fathers are merely providers and bystanders, involved and active fathers strengthen child development. “Being an involved father changes him, his health, the nature of his relationships, his job satisfaction, his warmth. It changes the child, and improves the child’s chances for well-being and the ability to deal with the kinds of everyday stresses in their lives,” Pruett said.

Donavan says he and co-founder Jillian Lakritz are encouraged by early evidence that Yoee Baby hits the mark with today’s millennial dads. Donavan noted that recently, Don Hudson, owner of uniquely dad-centric retail store Seahorses in Portland, said Yoee Baby has been flying off the shelves as customers discover what a great gift Yoee Baby is for new dads.

Innovative Yet Nostalgic, Yoee Baby Plush Toy Attracts Praise Among Millennial Moms

Fast-Selling Infant Toy Enjoys Position at the Intersection of Pop Trends and Science

BOULDER, CO - Basking in the shower of accolades from mainstream media to top mommy bloggers, Yoee Baby, a new mom-inspired and mom-designed plush toy from America’s startup capital is a case study in the consumer backlash against too much tech.

From its launch last fall on Kickstarter, where it holds the title of most funded baby toy launch ever, to recent appearances in online editions of USA Today and, People, Yoee Baby offers proof that while millennial moms are reigning in on tech toy overload, they still seek to provide their babies toys that are at once innovative, yet foster classic play.

According to leading market research firm NPD Group, since 2015 growth in plush toy sales is outpacing sales in other toy categories. According to a recent issue of The Toy Book, a specialty toys and games trade publication, NPD Group notes plush sales grew 6 percent in the 12 months ending this January, outperforming the total toy industry dollar growth of 4.7 percent. In addition, plush grew twice as fast (11 percent) as total toy industry unit growth (5 percent) over the same period last year.

Bearing witness to the stats, Yoee sightings from the baby shower for Today Show meteorologist Dylan Dreyer to the Instagram feed of lifestyle and fashion influencer Brittany Maddux bolster claims from influential pop culture blogs like Pop Sugar and Mom.me that Yoee Baby is among the coolest new baby products of 2017. Winner of a Cribsie Award for New Arrivals, HuffPo writer Katie Laura who bills herself as a “luxury maven on a quest for the best,” asserted in  Huffington Post that Yoee Baby is a “mommy must-have for 6-month old babies.” SheKnows put Yoee in a class with iconic Sophie the Giraffe, while Daily Obsession proclaimed Yoee “a game-changer in baby toys.”

While enjoying the media spotlight on her startup, founder Jillian Lakritz is optimistic that Yoee Baby’s positioning on the leading front of another trend will help her toy line become an enduring classic. Lakritz explains that she consciously designed Yoee Baby to fill a need to have a toy that connects with babies from the earliest days. “A growing body of research points out how important play between caregivers and babies is from birth to three years old,” Lakritz said. Indeed the Zero to Three asserts that starting at birth, connections between caregivers and infants promotes healthy brain development, builds social and emotional skills, and supports language and literacy development.

Trade and consumers will both get a chance to meet Lakritz and Yoee Baby in person at the upcoming JPMA Baby Show Booth #1927 in Anaheim, CA, May 9 - 13.
